This is from a frighteningly old sketchbook that I unearthed from the catacombs. The papyrus might as well have crumbled before I scanned this, but it survived the digitization process unscathed, apparently.

It kind of makes me laugh because it's really pretty bad... but there are unmistakable signs of my style nonetheless. An interesting old relic for sure.

Road Rage (Same Great Taste)

I originally thought of naming this one "Same Great Taste" because then it would be funny and ironic because of this figure's expression. But then the more I looked at it, the more mad the guy looked, so I went with "Road Rage" instead.
Of course, then I realized that "Road Rage (Same Great Taste) was funny and mad at the same time. So clearly I had to go with that. Enjoy this really, really old sketch that I found in a sketchbook so old that it might as well have been made of papyrus.

Smoking Can Cause Tumors

Obviously this is incomplete, but this piece jumped out of an old sketchbook at me and commanded that I scan and upload it immediately. Enjoy. Incidentally, I did used to be a (heavy) smoker but have quit 3 years ago now. However, note that the title is not meant to be "preachy" in any way, only humorous.

Dapper Giant

Another old doodle that I found in a sketchbook. Rough, but I like the stilt-legs look, it works. But man does it make the arms look stumpy! Known to make the fingers tense up awkwardly as well.

I really need to take the photograph of this painting over again, I did not use a tripod and the lighting was poor so the image quality is pretty bad. This is a placeholder though, to remind be to do that ASAP. For now though I felt like posting this one tonight for some reason.

This sketch is from a really old journal (maybe 15 years old or so). I don't do a lot of this "fantasy" type stuff anymore, but I was into it as a kid, for sure.

Man at the Wall

Since I've been posting all these badly drawn doodles lately I figured it was time to start snapping pictures of some of my larger paintings. This is one of, if not -the most- favorite painting of mine that I've ever done.

I like it not only because I think it is executed fairly well and the figure has a very alive, piercing stare, but because it was one of the first times that I remember consciously deciding to really take my time, consider composition, sketch it out, etc. before committing something to paint. Normally I just dive right in or start doodling and then build off of whatever weird doodle-monster that I happen to come up with on any given day.

This image conjures up visions of the Holocaust, clinical depression, Winter, the Industrial Revolution, or all/none of the above. You decide.

The painting also used to have a different title -I am sure of it- but I just can't seem to remember what it was. Man at the Wall will have to serve serve as an acting title for now.
