A rework of the Road Rage (Same Great Taste) image into a flipped/cloned/blended version where it will live on as a skateboard art design.

Manbird

A new work that I was finally able to scan in (my new scanner is here, setup easily and is working great!). The figure was sketched, then inked with Letraset and PrismaColor markers. The background is a taken from a series of macro-photos I took several years ago and then tweaked/enhanced in PhotoShop CS3.

I sketched this character a short while ago and then recently did some color work on it. Not finished, but saving this snapshot of it.

Slaying of the Dragon

Sometimes I would draw dragons when I was a kid. Yes, I even played D&D and yes it was nerdy. I have to admit I can draw a pretty mean dragon though, when inspired. All that said, this one is more whimpering than mean. Apparently that can happen when a spear is impaled in your belly.

The Tree Ogre

This piece, as well as A Wild Thing (R2) represent a somewhat new technique with my art. Although I have regularly incorporated photography into my professional graphic design work for years, I very rarely incorporate photos into my personal, non-commercial art (as seen at Gallery Bizarre). I have a feeling that is about to change. This piece is nearly finished but still needs some detail work.

The first time that I experimented with this type of artistic hybridization of media was with old Life magazine cutouts and my acrylic paintings during the late 80's and early 90's. However, now I am revisiting this idea in a whole new way via the concept of digital photo manipulation and mixed-media works with analog art. This is a really interesting idea to me and opens up a Pandora's box of possibilities. I am really excited to see where future works using these techniques will take me.

The Hornplayer

One of the earliest bands I was ever in was called The Horn. For awhile we had tremendous fun thinking up and then making various promotional items for the band like stickers, flyers, overt propaganda, etc.

This was never used for anything other than intentional comic relief, but just happens to be a piece I made during that time period. Acrylic backpainting w/Pen and Ink drawing superimposed (via old-fashioned glue) with Life magazine cutouts.

Branch Being Amongst Others in Fiery Plane of General Monstrosity

An old mixed media painting, based in acrylic with Life magazine cutout. Second in the “Branch Being” series. Yes, that is the real title of the piece and no, it cannot be shortened. That simply is the only name that makes sense for it.

This is the result of a session messing around in Photoshop many, many years ago. One of the first times I remember scanning in an illustration and then going nuts with it in PS. I almost like the result.
