Recent Work

This is something I've been noodling with lately. It has a certain dorky charm and bright colors appeal that I find vaguely amusing for some reason.

I have tons of ideas right now and no time to get them out. Must...focus...

Busy, busy, busy is what I've been lately. I felt like drawing though so I had to wrestle my Wacom back from my lovely wife. Of course, in order to do so I had to exchange it (temporarily, until we decide to by a third, larger tablet) with a much smaller stand-in tablet that I picked up on eBay for cheap.  read more »

I've been doing a lot of vector illustration stuff lately. I know it's hopelessly trendy at the moment but I still can't get enough of it, when it's done well.

Another angle and closer view of a wooden mask which I photographed recently. Obviously this has been "enhanced" to emphasize its ghoulish features to a great degree.

This drawing is based on someone that I (used to) have to interact with on a regular basis. He always had several gadgets hanging off his belt (large PDA in a hanging belt-case, ratchet-phone case, etc), because he was convinced someone would steal his crap if he left it at his workstation. One day I drew this caricature of him to amuse myself. Enjoy.

A recent doodle. Not sure of the inspiration (if any), but I like the mad expression on this little rug-demon. Also unsure if I will develop this further, but it's off to a funny head start.

This is something that I sketched recently when I was trying out a new set of Letraset markers. I am in love with these things. To me they feel better than any other marker I've ever used. Great for drawing, but on the pricey-side at around $5 bucks a pop. They are worth it though, in my summation.

A mask which hangs in the house of a relative of mine. I was there visiting over the holidays and snapped this shot. Although the mask is both interesting and menacing in it's own right, it also serves as a great focal point to throw filters and visual effects at to see what happens. This is just one (of many) of the versions that I happened to like quite a bit.

I have been messing around a bit in Poser 7 this morning (for the first time). Although at this stage of my 3d modeling experience (total nOOb) using the software feels more like playing with a toy than creating art, it definitely is an extremely fun and compelling toy, to say the least.  read more »
