Sigilation, meaning a “transformation of ordinary items into an image or object possessing innate magical powers” is an apt term to encapsulate the incredible art created by Nicole McConville.

Nicole creates intricate shrines out of old photographs, bird skulls, gears, bees wax and other such delightful items for an overall effect that is as stunning as it is melancholy.

Her works are very much in the tradition of objet trouvé or found art, a concept which appeals to me greatly on many levels. I highly recommend paying her site a visit, you may be surprised by the things that you find there.
